Oh, I totally encourage cheekiness! I got this book at a craft store and I found the instructions SO easy, I just wanna make sock bunnies (or kitties) all the time! Socks Appeal
You can hand sew or use a machine, I did the hand sewing but only because my machine is too heavy to pick up while I'm "in the family way." (and I hate threading the bobbin)
